Furniture Repair, Restoration and Custom Work From Our Silt Shop
Every photo below is a piece that came through The Woood Shop. Some are heirlooms that needed a careful restoration, some are outdoor pieces worn down by Colorado sun and snow, and some were built from scratch. Several are shown before and after, so you can see where a piece started and how it left the shop.
We’ve been doing this work for clients in Aspen and across the Roaring Fork and Vail Valleys since 1978. Click any photo to see it larger.
Project notes
A Few Projects in the Gallery
-
Teak outdoor loveseat
A weathered teak loveseat with a lattice seat, sanded down in the workshop, joinery checked, and refinished so it could go back out on the lawn. This is typical outdoor furniture restoration work.
-
Antique giltwood convex mirror
This ornate mirror arrived with broken glass and damaged carving. After restoration, the gilt frame and candle arms are back in one piece and ready to hang.
-
Painted storage bench
An antique bench with worn green paint. We kept the distressed painted finish that gives it character and cleaned up the wood seat.
-
Teak plank and freeform coffee tables
Two very different tables, both brought back with refinishing: a gray, weathered teak plank table returned to warm wood, and a tiered freeform table finished in a dark stain.
-
Grand piano case
A grand piano case shown mid-restoration in the shop, and again finished with the lid open.
-
Custom pieces
A carved walnut media console and a pegged-frame cabinet door, both examples of our custom woodwork.
